Course Information 2010 – 2011 Paramedic Program The JHPC sponsored Paramedic program is a 12-14 month course of study. The program requires approximately 20 hours per week (more than 20 hours will be required during the Internship stage of the course) of classroom and clinical time. The JHPC Paramedic Program will be held at Bridgeport Hospital in the School of Nursing Building located at 200 Mill Hill Ave., Bridgeport, CT. Clinical sites will include area hospitals and EMS services. The Paramedic program classes will be held on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Weekend classes are kept to a bare minimum. The Paramedic program includes over 1200 hours of instruction, which meets the State and National Curriculum requirements. This Paramedic program has also been recognized and approved for Veterans Administration (VA) Educational Benefits. Students that complete the program will be qualified to sit for the National Registry Examination, which is the current State of Connecticut Paramedic Licensing Exam. Course Specifics: Location: Bridgeport Hospital, School of Nursing Building: 200 Mill Hill Ave., Bridgeport, CT. Dates: Starts – March 30, 2010 Ends - April, 2011 Applications are now being accepted.. This class is heavily pre-registered. After the class is filled applications are held for a wait list on student drops. This is a competitive
enrollment. Times: Monday and Wednesday Evenings: 6:00 p.m. 10:00 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays: 8:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. - extremely occasional. Clinical and Internship days will be scheduled with the students based on student and site availability. Cost: Tuition for the Paramedic Program is $5500.00. Payment arrangements are possible .Program is accepted by the Veterans Administration. The tuition fee includes: ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, PEPP All required books Uniform Prerequisites: Candidates must have current State of Connecticut Certification as an EMT-B or EMT-I and remain current throughout the duration of the Paramedic Program. Candidates must have a current CPR card and remain current throughout the Program All candidates will be interviewed and tested prior to acceptance into the program
