Pam Barrett
I was
born in Minnesota and soon after moved to Redding CT where I graduated from High
School. after graduation I worked a couple of different jobs, married my
first husband and drove tractor-trailer with him for a few years. Working
as a truck driver allowed me to see most of the country and gave me the
opportunity to experience life in several states. After a divorce, I moved
back to CT with my daughter Gina. As a single mom I found work in the
restaurant business and raised my daughter making a living as a waitress and
bartender and holding as many as 3 jobs at a time to support us. Working around
food has given me a true appreciation for cooking. I enjoy learning to
prepare dishes from different cultures and love to cook for family and friends.
I left the food industry to pursue my interest in massage. I attended the Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy in Westport and currently work for myself as a state licensed massage therapist.
In 2002 I married my present husband Bill, who is a police officer in the town of Wilton. Still interested in furthering my medical training I became an EMT with the Wilton Volunteer Ambulance Corp. I have found the work interesting and enjoy the fulfillment of helping people in that capacity.
My husband and I plan to move within the next few years. We love to visit the Pocono area of Pennsylvania and would like to relocate there when my husband retires. As a massage therapist the physical stress on your body eventually takes its toll.
I feel honored to have been chosen to be in this class. As a Paramedic I would like to continue my training and knowledge in the medical field and hope to find work at a hospital depending on where we move to.
